Celebrating Jett!
Celebrating baby Jett with his mama (my SIL), friends and family was so much fun! We can't wait for Mr. Cutie Pie to get here so we can squeeze his chubby little cheeks and kiss him all over. He's got lots of cousins, aunts and uncles, grandmas and grandpas, not to mention his mama and daddy, who are very excited to meet him!
Jett has the most adorable nursery in shades of grey, navy and white.
Inspired by this room by Urban Walls, the entire wall behind his crib is covered in arrows. My brother easily put them up in one afternoon. Hint: A laser level is the way to go!! You get 33, easy to remove arrows that are cut from specialized vinyl. Each measures 20 inches wide by 1.6 inches tall.
His bedding is various patterns and textures of navy, white, and grey. There are various arrow accents and a gallery wall above an amazing navy blue dresser that my brother refinished. An industrial wire pendant light hangs above a rocker in the corner. Isn't that an adorable little boy's theme??
So when planning his baby shower, arrows seemed to be the perfect theme! Here are a few pictures of his celebration!
I love how this cupcake tower turned out! How adorable are the cupcake wrappers? I found them on Dress My Cupcake. They come in all sorts of colors and designs and are perfect for dressing up an ordinary cupcake. With cupcake wrappers you don't have to worry about greasy looking liners. Unless you use Color Cups by Wilton or a grease proof liner you purchase online, most grocery store and craft store liners will show the grease. So these cute wrappers are a great option!
If you are looking for a quick, easy and delicious semi-homemade cupcake that is perfect for spring and summer then search no more! Give these lemon-blueberry cupcakes by Betty Crocker a try! Instead of using their frosting recipe I used one for a lemon curd buttercream (recipe below). These cupcakes are so moist and light. They would be perfect for your next tea party, birthday party or plain old Tuesday afternoon. I won't lie, my three year old and I ate a few hot from the oven and they tasted just like a warm blueberry muffin. In fact, this may be my new blueberry muffin recipe!!!
Lemon Curd Buttercream
3 cups unsalted butter, at room temperature
6 cups powdered sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup lemon curd (homemade or store bought)
fresh blueberries, for decorating
In a mixer, cream butter until it is light in color and perfectly smooth. Add the sugar, 1 cup at a time, and mix on the lowest speed until it is fully incorporated before adding the next cup. Scrape down the sides of the bowl and add the vanilla, salt and lemon curd. Beat on high speed for 5 minutes until the buttercream is fluffy, creamy and light. Fill your piping bag and top each cupcake. Top with a fresh blueberry.
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for one week. Bring to room temperature and rewhip before using.
And how adorable is this custom made cake topper!!! We found it on Etsy by Partyridge.
