Keeping Mama Sane Airplane and Travel Activities for Babies, Toddlers and Big Kids

I'm so excited to share this awesome travel activity set my sister-in-law gave to our baby for her first birthday the other day!  She knows the stress I am feeling over finding airplane activities for our upcoming flight to Disney World with a four year old and 14 month old.  She hooked us up!  Like seriously, HOOKED  a mama up (oh yeah, and the kids too!) The other moms at the party were equally as excited and wanted to take pictures of all the activities!  So, we are going to share them all here for you!   I will have to find out where my SIL got her templates and let you know.  But in the meantime, I want to post the 8 awesome activities that she gave us.  You can use her ideas or get inspired and create your own.  You could also use any of our travel activity ideas that we posted previously.

These activities are going to be perfect for both of our girls!  I am tucking them all away until the flight so everything will be new and exciting.  What a great gift!  Wouldn't these be awesome for a road trip, church bag, restaurant bag or even hospital/doctor's appointment bag!

 Supplies:

-zippered pencil bags with 3-ring holes (my SIL did 2 colored ones with solid backs and 3 clear ones with clear fronts and backs)
- 3 ring hooks
-supplies for various activities (crayons, stickers, paper, pompoms, colored straws, ....)

This is what the entire set of 8 activities looks like when they are all hooked together.  The pink colored front and back pouches hold one activity each while the 3 clear pouches in the center hold 2 activities each (with a paper divider down the middle).

Another view of the entire bundle.  I like that you can take the set apart and carry more or less activities with you.  I think we are going to carry 2-3 in our 4 year old's travel backpack for the trip to Disney and then the other activities for the return flights to keep it new and exciting

Activity 1: Coloring

So simple, yet so perfect to keep little hands and minds busy while traveling (or eating at a restaurant).  This activity packet contains the following:

*A set of jumbo crayons (or colored pencils, gel pens, Crayola Color Wonder markers, Scratch pads....)
*Blank card stock (white and colored)

Activity 2: Fishing

Isn't this activity adorable!  A dowel rod and magnet fishing pole and cute little magnetic felt fish are perfect for some travel time fishing.  My girls are really eyeing this one!

Activity 3: Matching

This activity was made with a deck of Disney playing cards (since we will be heading to Disney).  Simply cut each card in half, mix all together and let your little try to find the match.  That simple!  But so much fun!

Activity #4: Pom Pom Rainbow

Love how cute this pom pom rainbow turned out!  Our 4 and 1 year olds have been eyeing this one.  I know they will both love matching colors or just holding the pom poms.  If you are worried about little eating the pom poms you could always switch them out for colored cereal or candy.

Activity 5: Stringing Beads

Love this activity so much!  Simply cut colored straws (or use beads, cereal, gummy rings, etc) and have your littles string them on a colored shoelace (or licorice string).  This is a great activity for fine motor skills.

Activity 6:

Stickers are such a simple and good activity for travel.  My SIL also included puffy stickers in this pouch.  Puffy stickers are much easier for really little fingers to peel.  And I learned a trick several years back from a friend- peel the entire backing away from the sticker page, leaving only the stickers.  This makes removing stickers much easier.

Activity 7: Building Sticks

Popsicle sticks and velcro rounds make for an easy and excellent travel activity.  Your little can make letter, numbers, shapes or any other creation.

Activity 8: Etch-A-Sketch

My SIL found these adorable mini Etch-A-Sketches at Dollar General!  Aren't they perfect to slip into a backpack or purse!
