Snowman Footprint Ornaments
We are so happy with how this year's ornaments turned out. We've been doing our handprints for the last couple of years, see our Santa handprint ornaments, and decided to try out our footprints. We think they are adorable!
All you need are a few simple supplies and you can make some snowmen of your own. These make great mommy, daddy, and grandparent gifts! It's not too late to make yours today!
What You Need:
*A package of Crayola Model Magic Modeling Material- It does NOT dry hard, but instead stays soft. We like it because ornaments are not as breakable. We chose ours in white, but it comes in a variety of colors. We purchased a larger box containing (4) 8 oz packages. One 8 oz package was enough for us to make (2) large handprints, (2) baby handprints, and (2) miscellaneous cutouts.
*Enamel or Acrylic paint in red, black, orange and pale blue.
*Decorative ribbon
*Mini jingle bell (1 per ornament)
*Paint brushes
*Butter knife
* Straw
Instructions:
1. Knead and roll out Model Magic according to package instructions.
2. Wash and dry tiny feet and then press firmly into model magic. We rolled ours out on a tray and then placed the tray on the floor in order to get a nice firm imprint.
3. Use a butter knife to trim around the handprint.
4. Use your fingers to gently smooth the cut edges.
5. Use a straw or the end of a paint brush to poke a hole (for hanging) at the top of the snowman's hat.
6. Allow your footprint to dry for at least 24-36 hours.
7. Paint as desired.
8. Finish with a piece of decorative ribbon and a jingle bell
9. Lastly, don't forget to sign your child's name and age on the back of your ornament.
